The testing on this site is designed to measure a unique trait that plays a key role in male / male relationships. Research has shown that successful male relationships are based on a balance between providing / protecting behaviors and care giving / nurturing traits, characteristics we have labeled as Alpha traits and Beta traits. These traits can occur in a wide variety of combinations, resulting in a mosaic pattern that can run from extreme Alpha dominance to extreme Beta dominance, and every step in-between. Our test measures 100 of these characteristics and results in a raw score that falls between 100, (complete Alpha dominance) to 0, (complete Beta dominance). The best male/male partnerships result from a balance between these two traits, thus men who score highly in the Alpha range tend to find the greatest satisfaction in relationships with men who score highly in the Beta range.

It is important to note that this is not a test of masculinity or femininity. We encourage you to forego such concerns, as this is a common mistake that many gay men make when selecting potential partners. Our research shows that such characteristics fail to play any major role in successful relationships.

On your profile page, you will see a group score: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10. Men who score the highest on Alpha characteristics fall into the 1 group, extremely Alpha, while men who score the highest in Beta traits fall into the 10 group, extremely Beta. Using the counter-balancing theory, those men who score in Group 10 are matched with men in Group 1, 9s with 2s, 8s with 3s, etc. Those men who score in the middle groups, 4,5,6 can be matched successfully within these three groups, thus have the broadest chances of matches.

On your matches’ dashboard, you are able to see both the likely success of a long-term relationship, and the likely success of a short-term sexual encounter. Be aware though that this is not a reflection of potential long-term sexual success. Many successful long-term relationships have rocky sexual starts, and many great sexual relationships fizzle out way too soon.

Place a clear facial photograph in your profile, then record a simple audio introduction. (All you need to do is say, “Hello, My name is ____.”) This site accepts MP3 recordings. Finally, post a videotape of yourself. Not a big production, simply you walking towards the camera. Why? These three things; facial structure, voice tone, and body posture and movement, are the key characteristics we use when “reading” someone as a potential mate – and we tend to be amazingly accurate in our first impressions.
